That darling Charlotte Ronson brought them out in droves: the Japanese buyers who made her a star in Tokyo; the band the Virgins — sitting front row with tee shirt (and other cool things) designer Chrissie Miller; socialites Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss and several blondes who couldn’t decide whether to channel Doris Day or Brigitte Bardot. But the one front row site that caught the style eye, beamed onto Charlotte’s brother Mark, the famed music producer (Amy Winehouse and others), a guy who tends to be low key and extremely well mannered. The guy’s also well dressed. Check out the slick navy suit, red shirt, white French cuffs and cuff links. WOW.
Charlotte, per usual, put out a show of ingenue frocks, easy slung trousers, jackets, and per this styling, Pocahontas headbands. (Note: Only girls with symmetrical features should work the headband across the forehead.)
A few blocks south, at Gotham Hall, Cynthia Rowley, another designer consistent in her genre, offered more of the perfect cocktail dress. She’s really nailed several little black numbers and she sent through a few colorful ones in violet and green hues. The floral tie dye didn’t excite me much, but the Fifties cat woman sunglasses could inspire a girl to lease a cherry red convertible and take to the road come Spring.
